five kingdoms

The term "Wayports" could refer to any one of the four types of wayports. There are spacial wayports, ways to the Outside, timeports, and the Pilgrim Path. The article below focuses on spacial wayports.

Wayports, or ways, are the portal-like creations that Wayminders manifest with their shaping powers. They allow people to traverse vast distances in space (aka teleport) just by going through them. However, to do so, the Wayminder creating them must be able to visualize the location they are linking it to. Wayports can take people anywhere in the Outskirts, though once they are connected to Earth or another world, they are no longer considered to be wayports. They resemble shimmering, semi-transparent ovals.

Spacial wayports have subtle visual characteristics that differentiate them from other types of wayports. Compared to spacial wayports, traditional wayports to the Outside are extraordinarily bright, timeports are black and jagged, and the Pilgrim Path is more tunnel-like. It often takes Wayminders several hours -- if not longer -- to create two wayports in succession. Wayports are double-sided within Creon, but when linked to a place outside of Creon, they are only unidirectional. Wayports can only be created in Creon and, with effort, Junction. Given that paths to Earth can be created in Zeropolis, it is theoretically possible that wayports could be created there as well.
